Agent of change

For my entire career as a “creative” I’ve always been an advocate for change. During the creative process, a simple change can often lead to dramatically different outcomes—from better visuals, to deeper connections, to stronger brands. Rival Brands is an amalgamation of a career’s worth of understanding how change can lead to new discoveries and successful pathways for a business. I am humbled when clients ask me to help make them more competitive and stronger. I take on the role of a being a client’s brand creator and navigator with patience, pride, and enthusiasm. Having a role in that process excites me now as much as it ever has in my career. Rival Brands is simply the purest way I can tell you about what I do— making you a new brand that rivals what you once were and positions you to rival your closest competitor. I’m going to let clients tell you the rest of the story about what I do. They do a good job with it.

Steve is a creative well spring of branding concepts and visual identities. His work to create brands for Keurig Kold is of particular note. He generated retro-new concepts for a particular product brief. The work was so rich that we had trouble choosing just one to move forward. I've reached a point in my career when giving back feels especially good.

I have been a speaker at industry conferences for the Vermont Specialty Food Association and the State of Vermont Chamber of Commerce. I’ve given numerous presentations on branding and packaging at the Center for an Agricultural Economy and the Vermont Food Venture Center. And I enjoy mentoring at schools like Champlain College and for organizations such as AIGA, Vermont.
